STRIDE Coaching Team

STRIDE coaches are more than instructors. They're more than fitness pros.
They're the friends you haven't met yet. Dance-party DJs disguised in running gear. Motivators. Game-changers.

Leanne Pedante

Since 2012 Leanne has been working as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor in Los Angeles. She loves hearing clients say those common three words, “I can’t run.” Hearing that means that that same person is going to feel like a total badass when they eventually, inevitably say, “Oh. Actually, I can run.” Watching people morph their opinions and perceptions of themselves is Leanne's favorite part of this work. Running holds a special place in her heart. For more on Leanne as Program Director of STRIDE, see our Origin Story. Leanne (aka DJ Precious Cargo) loves music that makes you move - whether it's motown or 90s hip-hop. In her class, you're likely to hear artists like Kanye West, Diplo, and Amy Winehouse.

Misa Dugally

Misa is one of the co-founders of STRIDE. Running has been a life-changing addition to Misa's life. It has changed her perception of who she can be, and what she's capable of. Misa teaches in order to share this experience with everyone she can. She is an RRCA-certified running coach. Misa puts her heart into choosing music that will motivate and inspire everyone in the room. In her class, you're likely to hear artists as diverse as ABBA, Miley Cyrus and Jay-Z.

Matthew Raabsmith

Originally from Nashville, TN, Matthew moved to sunny So-Cal 6 years ago. He wasn't much of a runner until he challenged himself to run a marathon by his 30th birthday. Upon crossing the finish line at the end of that first marathon he was hooked.

Upon moving to LA Matthew discovered how addictive a great group fitness class could be. There is nothing he enjoys more than the community and workout that comes from an amazing group class. He loved group exercise so much that 4 years ago he became an instructor. Matthew's classes are designed to be fun but seriously challenging and filled with great music to help get clients to the finish line.

Matthew spends most of his free time with his amazing wife "running" after their two children. In Matthew's class, you're likely to hear Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, and Tom Petty.

Mandy Morris

Mandy comes all the way from Kansas City, MO (GO ROYALS!). While in Kansas City, she graduated from UMKC with a Biology degree and has always had a love for science and fitness! She spent several years in KC running her own dance fitness studio, as well as providing personal training around the city. Mandy has a passion for helping people of all fitness levels discover the fun and life-changing effects fitness can have on their daily lives. Come to class ready to work hard and find the fun in run! “Running is the greatest metaphor for life, because you get out of it what you put into it.” Mandy loves pop - anything from Kanye to Kesha. In her class, you're likely to hear Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna.

Aubrey Thurman

"If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." This quote sums up the kind of positive outlook and vibrant energy Aubrey brings to coaching. She uses running as a form of meditation and loves how the practice helps to relax her mind and body. Outside of running, Aubrey is currently working on being able to snatch (Olympic lift) her body weight #170 (her current PR is #135!) If you're heading to any music festival, you're like to see Aubrey there. Her playlists are made up of songs that make you want to dance and include artists like Kendrick Lamar, Lorde and Pitbull.

Phil Newman

Phil is thrilled to be teaching at STRIDE. From Kansas City, MO, he lives in Los Angeles with his beautiful wife (and fellow STRIDE Coach), Mandy, and their three (yes, count 'em, three) cats. He has spent his life in the entertainment industry, and has always had a passion for health and fitness. He's ecstatic to have the opportunity to help people achieve their personal goals. "Your attitude determines your direction." Phil's playlists tend towards upbeat pop - including ska and dance hits. In his class, you're likely to hear artists like Matt and Kim, Vampire Weekend, and Justin Timberlake.

Heather McCallum

Running has been a personal and emotional journey for Heather. The eternal theatre nerd, Heather grew up focusing on acting, but her high school required her to play a sport each season. Not being naturally athletic, Heather saw running as a huge source of anxiety and dread as she was always the slowest one.

Running has turned from a HUGE source of anxiety and self-loathing to a source of strength and self love and what she uses now to combat anxiety! It has become a HUGE part of her life and identity and a symbol of trusting yourself and running your own race.

She has just qualified for the Boston Marathon and hopes to run it in April 2018. She is beyond excited to be part of the STRIDE Team and helping others with their own running journey! In Heather's class, you're likely to hear artists like Beyoncé, Britney, and Beastie Boys.

Noel Palomaria

Noel Palomaria has been a group fitness instructor and personal trainer for nearly 20 years. He strives to bring excitement and a sense of community to his workouts that leave people feeling connected to one another. He's great at providing personal attention in his classes for a fun, stress-free experience. Noel's playlists are designed to drive you to the finish line. In his class, you can expect to hear artists like Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, and The Killers.
